Royal Academy of Music Jazz Club 2024

A free opportunity for aspiring young Jazz Musicians 14–17-year-olds.

Dates: Saturdays 10th, 17th and 24th February 2pm-5pm

Location: St Marks Church and Royal Academy of Music

Course to include:

•Working with leading musicians from the London jazz scene and Junior Jazz tutor Matt Anderson

•Developing skills in small-group improvisation, including playing by ear, interpreting written music/lead sheets, and developing rhythmic, harmonic, and melodic language.

•Meeting like-minded young musicians from across London and beyond.

•Exploring a broad range of repertoire from across the jazz tradition, with a wide stylistic remit.

•Learn about how to take musical interests further, with advice on auditioning for programmes like the Academy’s Junior Jazz programme.

Participants will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis as recommended by their teachers or local music authority.

Application deadline: Thursday 25th January 2024

We recommend that participants are currently working at ABRSM / Trinity Guildhall at Grade 5 level or above.

The Royal Academy of Music’ is Widening Participation team are working to increase inclusivity across the conservatoire sector and are keen to hear from ethnically diverse applicants.
