Giles studied piano and trumpet at the University of Southampton, graduating in 1990. Through the 1990s he worked for EMI Records at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios. As a Classical Editor and session keyboard player, Giles worked with some of the biggest names in both pop and classical music before leaving EMI to go on tour with the techno-acoustic fusion violinist Vanessa-Mae. After more than 20 years on the road with Vanessa-Mae, Giles finally settled into full-time teaching in 2017 (although he does still play keyboards with the heavy metal band Marquis de Sade). Giles' specialities are piano/keyboard, guitar, bass and brass. He leads several ensembles for CMA including RockWorks and RockShop.
