The fund was established in 1977 following the death in 1974 of Dorothy Grinstead who was a much- loved piano teacher and musician in Croydon. A board of Trustees was formed to administer the fund to assist young Croydon musicians.

Criteria for applying

You must be, or have been, a student at a Croydon School/Academy for a substantial part of your secondary education, or currently in Year 6 at a Croydon Primary School/Academy OR be a Croydon resident

You should be Grade 5 standard minimum in your instrument

You must be a member of an ensemble/orchestra / music group or choir

You must supply references from your instrumental teacher and school

You will need to provide a reference or exam results to show how you have progressed with your instrument

You must be under 26 years of age
