A world music project with out music centres
Music Untamed is a music project that took place over the spring term 2016. Its aims were to celebrate and develop participants’ understanding of the cultural diversity that exists within Croydon’s communities. We worked in partnership with the Grand Union Orchestra from January 2016 to deliver a series of world music workshops with students from our Saturday and Tuesday centres that explored musical traditions from around the world. Students were introduced to new ways of learning and playing, such as improvisation and learning by ear. The project culminated in our annual Showcase performance at Fairfield Halls in March 2016.
