Use this guide to help you decide what to apply for.
1. Find out what is available
CMA offers lessons at many schools in Croydon. This is based on the interest we get at each school and the teaching slots that schools are able to give us. Click here to find out what we are currently offering at your child’s school.
We also offer Star Classes for primary school children to learn any instrument they wish. Children starting lessons in school can also join a Star Class.
2. Choose your instrument
Choosing your instrument can be a tricky process as there are so many options. We have provided an Instrument Guide to help to get you started.
3. Choose your lesson type
There are a number of options for lessons in school, with group, paired and individual lessons suitable for taking pupils from beginner to advanced levels.
There is also the option of joining our Croydon Young Musicians Saturday centre to enjoy making music with others as a beginner though to our most advanced bands and orchestras.
4. Apply Online
Now that you’ve chosen your instrument and lessons type, you’re ready to apply! Click here to make an online application.
5. What happens next?
When we receive your application your child will be added to our waiting list which is reviewed every six weeks between the autumn and summer terms.
We will contact you when we are able to begin lessons with your child to confirm that you still wish for lessons to go ahead, and send you an invoice for the upcoming lesson fees. If we are not able to teach your child for a significant length of time, we will contact you to discuss alternative options.
Most of our lessons don’t begin until students are in Year 3. You are still welcome to apply if your children are younger, but this could mean that they remain on the waiting list until they reach junior school.
