Additional Needs Information for Parents and Carers

All children are individuals and our aim is to help our young musicians and artists build on their individual abilities to find the ways they wish to express themselves. We ask parents and carers to keep us informed of any additional needs which their children have so that we can work with them to ensure their children fulfil their creative potential. The arts is a place where all can participate and all can thrive.

We work closely with other services for children and young people, including Croydon’s special schools and special education units. This gives us access to additional expertise so that we can provide complementary support through our activity.

Individual needs can often be met through small group instrumental lessons, and our Merit Award lessons are available where a young musician needs individual lessons to progress further.

All our groups and the other young musicians and artists in them aim to make everyone welcome. Where we have specialist groups for young musician and artists with additional needs we always ensure they can take part in performances and presentations alongside others.

When applying to take part in our activity do please let us know what additional needs your child has. We may wish to have a conversation with you to ensure we can meet their needs and their aspirations.
